oie_transparentThree years ago if someone called me on my office phone and I was on my way out the door I had a dilemma.  I could gracefully exit the phone call, ask if I can call back from my cell, or sit there and be late.  Fortunately those days are behind me.  Now when I get a call my hosted SmartPBX makes my  iPad mini, desk phone, and iPhone all ring and I pick up the one that is convenient.  If I did pick up my desk phone and I need to get to the first tee I just transfer the call to my cell and hit the road.

My thirty-something daughter doesn't understand word-of-mouth.  She wanted gutters installed on her home.  She didn't ask the next door neighbor who just had it done, but rather went to Google and got three names in her town.  She picked the first one that answered the phone.  Silly?  Maybe.  But, for goodness sake, answer your phone.  You might only get one shot.

I am target marketing in a new geographic area.  My campaign is using a telephone number that my SmartPBX is tracking for me.  I get a report of all of the calls we are getting for that campaign.  In a few more weeks I will be able to tell where the campaign is a success, or I need to change it up.

My telemarketer is testing out some new scripts for this campaign.  All of the calls, inbound and out, are recorded by SmartPBX so I can review the progress at my leisure.  Of course, there is a disclaimer that warns the caller that calls may be recorded for training purposes.  And, some states don't allow it at all.

During an extended power outage during hurricane Sandy, in the Northeast, all my calls were directed to our 4G phones.  No one even knew we were affected.  The best thing is that we didn't have to make a CapEx for a on-premise PBX.  Eliminating our 7 lines pays for the hosted solution.
